Supreme Court of India Case Status — Check Online

The Supreme Court of India (SCI) is the highest judicial body in the country. Unlike district courts and High Courts, the Supreme Court has its own dedicated website and case management system — it is not part of the eCourts portal. This guide explains how to check Supreme Court case status online.

Official Website

The official website of the Supreme Court of India is main.sci.gov.in. All case-related information, cause lists, orders, and judgments are available on this portal.

How to Check Supreme Court Case Status by Case Number

  1. Go to the Supreme Court website (main.sci.gov.in)
  2. Navigate to the "Case Status" section
  3. Select "Case Number" search
  4. Choose the case type (e.g., Civil Appeal, Criminal Appeal, Special Leave Petition, Writ Petition)
  5. Enter the case number and year
  6. Click "Search" to view case status and details

How to Check Supreme Court Case Status by Diary Number

When a case is first filed in the Supreme Court, it is assigned a diary number before formal registration. To search by diary number:

  1. Go to the Case Status section on main.sci.gov.in
  2. Select "Diary Number" search
  3. Enter the diary number and year
  4. View the current status of your filing

How to Check Case Status by Party Name

  1. Go to the Case Status section on main.sci.gov.in
  2. Select "Party Name" search

  4. Browse through matching results

  4. View all cases where the advocate is on record

Daily Cause List

The Supreme Court publishes its daily cause list on the official website. The cause list shows all cases scheduled for hearing on a particular day, organized by court/bench number. You can access the cause list from the homepage of main.sci.gov.in.

Orders and Judgments

The Supreme Court makes its orders and judgments available online through the official website. You can search for judgments by case number, party name, date, or keyword. Landmark judgments and recent orders are prominently listed on the website.

Supreme Court vs eCourts — Key Difference

The eCourts portal (services.ecourts.gov.in for district courts and hcservices.ecourts.gov.in for High Courts) does not cover the Supreme Court. The SCI operates its own independent portal at main.sci.gov.in. If you are looking for a district court or High Court case, use the eCourts portal instead.
